Inflammatory Cytokine Interference

Meaning

Inflammatory Cytokine Interference describes the disruptive effect that pro-inflammatory signaling molecules, such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6) or Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), have on normal endocrine function and cellular signaling pathways. This interference often manifests as reduced sensitivity in hormone receptors, a condition commonly known as functional resistance, or as altered hormone synthesis and metabolism. Chronic low-grade inflammation, driven by these cytokines, is a significant underlying factor in metabolic disorders, hormonal decline, and accelerated aging. Addressing this interference is a core strategy in longevity medicine.
