Inflammation Mediators

Meaning

Inflammation Mediators are a diverse group of biologically active molecules, including cytokines, chemokines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, that are released by cells in response to tissue injury, infection, or chronic stress. These chemical signals orchestrate the inflammatory response, a critical component of innate immunity, by regulating vascular permeability, recruiting immune cells, and initiating pain pathways. Clinically, chronic elevation or dysregulation of these mediators is central to the pathogenesis of numerous age-related diseases and hormonal imbalances.
