Inflammation Biomarkers

Meaning

Quantifiable biological molecules found in blood, tissue, or other bodily fluids that serve as objective indicators of an active inflammatory process within the body. These markers reflect the systemic activation of the innate immune system in response to stress, injury, or chronic pathological states. Clinically relevant examples include C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukins (IL-6), and fibrinogen, which correlate with the degree of systemic cellular stress. Monitoring these biomarkers provides crucial diagnostic and prognostic information regarding disease risk and therapeutic efficacy.
