Infertility

Meaning

Infertility is defined clinically as the inability to achieve a pregnancy after twelve months or more of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse, or after six months if the female partner is over the age of 35. This condition is recognized as a disease of the reproductive system and can stem from male factors, female factors, or a combination of both. It is a complex medical issue requiring a systematic diagnostic evaluation to identify underlying etiologies, which often involve subtle or overt hormonal dysregulation. Comprehensive care involves addressing the physiological, psychological, and social dimensions of this diagnosis.
