In Vitro Testing

Meaning

In vitro testing, which translates literally to “in glass,” refers to any scientific or clinical procedure conducted outside of a living organism, typically utilizing components derived from the organism, such as cells, tissues, or biochemical molecules, cultured in a controlled laboratory environment. In the hormonal health context, this includes assays to measure hormone concentrations in serum, tests to determine receptor binding affinity, or cell-based models used to screen potential endocrine-disrupting chemicals. This controlled environment allows for precise, reproducible analysis of specific biological interactions, providing foundational diagnostic data.
