Implantation Failure

Meaning

Implantation failure is the clinical condition defined by the inability of a fertilized embryo to successfully adhere to and embed itself within the prepared endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus, thereby preventing the establishment of a pregnancy. This is a primary challenge in both natural conception and assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF). The failure can be attributed to compromised embryo quality, a non-receptive uterine environment, or a lack of synchrony between the two.
