Immunological Resilience

Meaning

Immunological resilience is the physiological capacity of the host’s immune system to effectively and efficiently respond to a diverse range of pathogenic or inflammatory challenges and subsequently rapidly return to a state of baseline, balanced homeostasis. This measure of immune health is intrinsically and deeply intertwined with optimal endocrine function, as hormones like cortisol, thyroid hormone, and the sex steroids significantly modulate the activity of immune cells and the overall cytokine balance. Robust immunological resilience is a foundational cornerstone of systemic health, vitality, and overall longevity.
