Immunogenicity Testing

Meaning

A crucial component of drug development, particularly for biologics like peptide and protein therapeutics, which involves assessing the potential for a therapeutic agent to elicit an unwanted immune response in the patient. This testing measures the formation of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) against the administered compound. Understanding immunogenicity is vital because ADAs can neutralize the drug’s effect, alter its pharmacokinetics, or cause adverse immune reactions.
