Immunogenicity Risk

Meaning

Immunogenicity risk, in the context of hormonal therapy, refers to the potential for a therapeutic agent, particularly a biological or non-human-identical hormone, to elicit an undesirable immune response in the patient. This response involves the body recognizing the therapeutic substance as foreign and producing anti-drug antibodies (ADAs). These antibodies can neutralize the intended pharmacological effect of the hormone, reduce its circulating concentration, or, in rare cases, trigger hypersensitivity reactions. It is a critical safety consideration when utilizing synthetic or non-bioidentical hormonal compounds.
