Immune System Modulation

Meaning

Immune system modulation is the deliberate or physiological process of adjusting the activity of the immune system to achieve a state of functional balance or a specific therapeutic effect. This modulation can involve either enhancing an inadequate immune response, such as in vaccination, or suppressing an excessive response, as required for managing chronic autoimmune diseases or systemic inflammation. The bidirectional communication between the endocrine and immune systems is critical to this process.
