IGFALS

Meaning

IGFALS stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein, Acid Labile Subunit, a large serum protein that is a critical component of the ternary complex that transports Insulin-like Growth Factors (IGFs). This protein dramatically increases the half-life of IGF-I and IGF-II in the circulation, effectively acting as a reservoir and regulating their bioavailability to target tissues. Its presence is indispensable for the stable endocrine action of IGFs.
