IGF-1 Levels

Meaning

IGF-1 Levels refer to the measured concentration of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 in the peripheral circulation, a potent anabolic peptide hormone primarily synthesized in the liver in response to growth hormone (GH) stimulation. IGF-1 acts as the major mediator of many of GH’s effects, influencing cell proliferation, tissue growth, and metabolic regulation. Clinically, measuring serum IGF-1 provides a stable, integrated assessment of the functional status of the entire Growth Hormone-IGF-1 axis.
