Hypothyroidism and HRT

Meaning

Hypothyroidism refers to a clinical state where the thyroid gland produces insufficient thyroid hormones, primarily thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), leading to systemic metabolic slowing. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) involves administering exogenous hormones to supplement or replace endogenous hormones that are deficient or absent, commonly utilized for menopausal symptoms, androgen deficiency, or other endocrine insufficiencies. The convergence of these two clinical scenarios requires careful consideration of their physiological interplay.
