Hypothalamic Pulsatility Assessment

Meaning

Hypothalamic Pulsatility Assessment is a specialized diagnostic technique used to evaluate the frequency and amplitude of the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, often inferred indirectly by measuring the corresponding pulsatile release of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in the peripheral circulation. This assessment provides critical functional information about the central command center of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis. Abnormal pulsatility is a key indicator of functional or central hypogonadism, guiding targeted therapeutic interventions.
