Hypogonadism and Metabolic Syndrome

Meaning

Hypogonadism and Metabolic Syndrome represent a clinically significant, often bidirectional pathological association where a deficiency in sex hormone production, termed hypogonadism, coexists with a cluster of metabolic risk factors. Metabolic Syndrome is defined by the presence of central obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and insulin resistance. The co-occurrence of these conditions significantly increases the patient’s risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and all-cause mortality. Addressing the hormonal deficiency is a crucial therapeutic target for improving overall metabolic health.
