Hypersensitivity Reactions

Meaning

Hypersensitivity Reactions are undesirable, exaggerated, or inappropriate immune responses to an antigen that is typically harmless to most individuals, leading to tissue damage and physiological dysfunction. Clinically, these reactions are classified into four main types based on the immunological mechanism involved, ranging from immediate IgE-mediated allergy to delayed T-cell-mediated responses. In hormonal health, this may manifest as a reaction to a specific carrier oil, preservative, or even the hormone molecule itself, requiring precise identification and avoidance of the causative agent.
