hsCRP

Meaning

hsCRP is the abbreviation for high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein, a highly sensitive laboratory assay used to measure the concentration of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in the blood at very low levels. CRP is an acute-phase reactant synthesized by the liver in response to inflammatory cytokines, primarily interleukin-6 (IL-6). The high-sensitivity test is clinically valuable as a robust, non-specific biomarker for detecting chronic, low-grade systemic inflammation and assessing cardiovascular risk in asymptomatic individuals.
