HRT

Meaning

HRT is the common clinical acronym for Hormone Replacement Therapy, a medical intervention designed to supplement or replace endogenous hormones that are deficient due to aging, disease, or surgical removal of endocrine glands. This therapeutic approach is most frequently used to alleviate the symptoms of menopause in women (Estrogen and Progesterone Replacement) and to treat clinical hypogonadism in men (Testosterone Replacement Therapy). HRT aims to restore physiological hormone levels to improve quality of life and mitigate long-term health risks associated with hormone deficiency.
