HPTA Restart Protocol

Meaning

The HPTA Restart Protocol is a specialized clinical strategy designed to pharmacologically stimulate and restore the natural function of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Testicular Axis (HPTA) in individuals, typically men, whose endogenous hormone production has been suppressed. This suppression is most commonly observed following the cessation of exogenous androgen administration, such as testosterone replacement therapy or anabolic steroid use. The goal is to encourage the pituitary gland to resume pulsatile secretion of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), thereby signaling the testes to recommence natural testosterone and sperm production. Successful execution is crucial for preserving fertility and avoiding protracted hypogonadism.
