HPT-HPG Axis Crosstalk

Meaning

The complex, interdependent communication and regulatory influence between the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axis and the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis. This crosstalk signifies that the hormones produced by one axis, such as thyroid hormones or sex hormones, can directly or indirectly modulate the function of the other. Disruptions in thyroid function, for example, frequently manifest as disturbances in menstrual cycles, ovulation, or libido.
