HPO Axis Regulation

Meaning

HPO Axis Regulation refers to the complex, tightly controlled neuroendocrine feedback loop involving the Hypothalamus, Pituitary gland, and Ovaries, which orchestrates the female reproductive cycle and associated hormonal balance. Proper regulation ensures the rhythmic and precise secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estrogen, and progesterone. Disruption of this axis is a common clinical etiology for menstrual irregularities and fertility issues.
