HPG Axis Workplace Stress

Meaning

HPG Axis Workplace Stress refers to the disruptive, suppressive impact of chronic occupational pressure and psychological strain on the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal axis, which is the central regulator of reproductive and sexual hormones. Sustained stress in the work environment can inhibit the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone, subsequently reducing the production of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone. This physiological cascade ultimately leads to lower circulating levels of sex steroids like testosterone and estrogen, contributing to decreased libido and impaired fertility.
