HPG Axis Health

Meaning

HPG Axis Health refers to the optimal, well-coordinated, and resilient function of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal axis, which is the central neuroendocrine pathway regulating reproductive capacity and sexual function. A healthy HPG axis is characterized by the appropriate pulsatile secretion of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), balanced pituitary production of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), and target organ synthesis of sex steroids. Maintaining the integrity of this axis is essential for fertility, bone density, muscle mass, and overall metabolic and psychological well-being across the lifespan.
