HPA Axis Recalibration

Meaning

HPA Axis Recalibration is a therapeutic concept describing the process of restoring optimal function and sensitivity to the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis. This neuroendocrine pathway governs the body’s physiological response to stress through the controlled release of cortisol and other glucocorticoids. Recalibration aims to correct maladaptive responses, such as chronic hyper- or hypo-cortisolism, which can arise from prolonged psychological or physical stressors.
