Hot Flushes

Meaning

Hot Flushes, also known clinically as vasomotor symptoms, are sudden, transient sensations of intense heat, often accompanied by profuse sweating, facial flushing, and sometimes palpitations. These episodes are the most common and disruptive symptom of the menopausal transition, reflecting a central nervous system response to fluctuating or declining estrogen levels. While primarily associated with menopause, they can also be triggered by certain medications, underlying endocrine disorders, or hypothalamic dysfunction. These are a clear manifestation of neuroendocrine thermoregulatory instability.
