Hormone Tapering

Meaning

Hormone Tapering is a clinically controlled and meticulously managed process of gradually reducing the prescribed dosage of an exogenous hormone medication over a defined period of time. This strategy is deliberately implemented to allow the body’s natural, endogenous hormone production systems, which have often been suppressed by the external therapy, to slowly and naturally reactivate and normalize their function. The overarching goal is to minimize the physiological stress, avoid potential withdrawal symptoms, and prevent the symptomatic rebound effects associated with an abrupt cessation of hormonal support.
