Hormone Secretagogue

Meaning

A Hormone Secretagogue is any substance, whether endogenous or exogenous, that stimulates the secretion of another specific hormone from an endocrine gland or neurosecretory cell. These agents do not themselves act as the replacement hormone but rather signal the body to increase its own endogenous production and release. They are clinically utilized to enhance natural hormonal output, often to address age-related decline in pulsatile secretion.
