Hormone Receptor Resistance

Meaning

Hormone Receptor Resistance is a pathological state in which target cells or tissues exhibit a diminished or absent biological response to a hormone, despite the hormone being present in adequate or even elevated concentrations in the circulation. This phenomenon represents a breakdown in the communication chain between the endocrine signal and the cellular machinery, preventing the hormone from exerting its intended physiological effect. Insulin resistance is a widely recognized example of this condition.
