Hormone Level Fluctuation

Meaning

Hormone Level Fluctuation denotes the normal or pathological variation in the circulating concentrations of specific endocrine signaling molecules over defined periods, such as minutes, hours, or cycles. Physiologically, fluctuations are often rhythmic, following circadian or pulsatile patterns necessary for receptor sensitivity and function, such as GnRH release. Clinically, however, excessive or inappropriate fluctuation can lead to symptomatic states by overwhelming or understimulating target tissues. Recognizing the amplitude and frequency of these variations is key to accurate endocrine diagnosis.
