Hormone Biosynthesis Interference

Meaning

Any process that impairs the cellular machinery responsible for synthesizing native steroid hormones, thyroid hormones, or protein hormones from their precursor molecules. This interference can involve the downregulation of rate-limiting enzymes, such as those in the cholesterol side-chain cleavage pathway or the iodination process in the thyroid gland. Disruption here leads directly to deficient circulating levels.
