Hormonal Withdrawal Syndrome

Meaning

Hormonal Withdrawal Syndrome describes the constellation of physiological and psychological symptoms experienced when the administration of exogenous hormones is discontinued, or when endogenous hormone production undergoes a significant, often abrupt, reduction. This phenomenon reflects the body’s homeostatic adjustment to a sudden alteration in hormonal milieu, leading to a temporary state of relative deficiency as the system recalibrates.
