Hormonal Therapy Interaction

Meaning

The alteration of the pharmacological effect or pharmacokinetic profile of one hormonal agent by the concomitant administration of another drug or substance. This interaction can lead to either reduced therapeutic efficacy, as in the case of decreased hormone concentration, or increased risk of toxicity, due to elevated drug levels. Clinical management requires careful consideration of a patient’s entire medication regimen to anticipate and mitigate these effects.
