Hormonal Skin Aging

Meaning

Hormonal skin aging refers to the physiological and structural alterations in the integumentary system that occur as a direct consequence of age-related shifts in endocrine function, particularly involving sex steroids like estrogen, progesterone, and androgens, as well as other systemic hormones. These changes contribute to reduced skin elasticity, diminished collagen synthesis, impaired barrier function, and increased susceptibility to damage, presenting as visible signs of aging.
