Hormonal Rhythms

Meaning

Hormonal rhythms refer to the intrinsic, time-dependent fluctuations in the secretion, concentration, and action of endocrine hormones within the human body, orchestrated by the central biological clock. These cyclical patterns, which can be ultradian (less than 24 hours), circadian (approximately 24 hours), or infradian (longer than 24 hours), are fundamental to maintaining physiological homeostasis and adapting to environmental cues. Disruption of these precise temporal patterns, such as those governing cortisol or melatonin, can significantly compromise metabolic and reproductive health.
