Hormonal Contamination

Meaning

Hormonal contamination refers to the unintended presence of exogenous hormone-like substances, either synthetic or natural, in the environment, food supply, or pharmaceutical products, leading to potential exposure and subsequent disruption of the human endocrine system. This exposure can include endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) from plastics or pesticides, or trace amounts of hormones in meat products, all of which can interfere with the body’s delicate signaling pathways. This clinical concern emphasizes the impact of the external environment on internal hormonal balance.
