Hormetic Loading

Meaning

Hormetic loading is the clinical practice of intentionally applying a series of low-dose, transient stressors to the biological system to stimulate a beneficial adaptive response that enhances overall physiological resilience. This strategic application of stress, which can be thermal, metabolic, or physical, is carefully dosed to remain within the zone of hormesis—the range where stress is protective, not damaging. The goal is to incrementally increase the body’s capacity for stress tolerance and maintain optimal cellular function.
