Hippocampal Density

Meaning

Hippocampal Density refers to the structural integrity and cellular concentration within the hippocampus, a brain region critically involved in declarative memory formation and spatial navigation. Clinically, this metric reflects the success of neurogenesis and synaptic maintenance processes within this structure. Reduced density often correlates with impaired memory function and is sensitive to chronic stress endocrinology. We monitor this to assess long-term neuroplasticity potential.
