Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Meaning

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignancy of the liver, arising from the main liver cells, the hepatocytes. This aggressive form of cancer is often associated with underlying chronic liver disease, such as cirrhosis resulting from chronic viral hepatitis or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In the context of hormonal health, its development can be influenced by metabolic syndrome and long-term hormonal imbalances that drive chronic hepatic inflammation and cell turnover.
