Hepatocellular Adenoma

Meaning

A rare, benign epithelial tumor of the liver that originates from hepatocytes, the main functional cells of the liver. In the context of hormonal health, these tumors are clinically significant because they are strongly associated with exposure to exogenous sex steroids, particularly high-dose oral contraceptives and C-17-alpha alkylated androgens. Though typically benign, they carry a risk of hemorrhage or malignant transformation.
