Hepatic Stress

Meaning

Hepatic stress is a physiological condition characterized by an excessive metabolic or toxic burden placed upon the liver, leading to compromised functional capacity and potential cellular damage. This stress can originate from chronic exposure to xenobiotics, high-fat diets, excessive alcohol consumption, or the overwhelming demands of systemic inflammation. In hormonal health, this state is particularly significant because the liver is the central site for the metabolism and clearance of all circulating steroid hormones.
