Hepatic Burden

Meaning

Hepatic Burden refers to the overall physiological stress and functional demand placed upon the liver due to various metabolic, toxicological, or pathological processes. In the hormonal and wellness space, this term specifically relates to the increased workload on the liver for detoxification, processing of excess nutrients, and metabolism of endogenous hormones or exogenous pharmaceutical compounds. A high hepatic burden is closely associated with conditions like metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
