Hematocrit and TRT

Meaning

Hematocrit and TRT refers to the clinical relationship between the percentage of red blood cells in the total blood volume (Hematocrit) and the administration of Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). TRT often stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells, which can lead to an elevated hematocrit level, a condition known as erythrocytosis. Monitoring this value is a critical safety component of TRT protocols, as excessively high hematocrit increases blood viscosity and potentially raises the risk of thromboembolic events.
