Heart Rate Variability Interpretation

Meaning

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) interpretation is the clinical analysis of the beat-to-beat variations in the time intervals between consecutive heartbeats, a non-invasive proxy for the activity and balance of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). High HRV generally indicates a robust, flexible ANS and good adaptability to stress, reflecting parasympathetic dominance. Conversely, low HRV is often correlated with chronic stress, inflammation, and sympathetic overdrive, signaling reduced physiological resilience.
