Healthy Fats

Meaning

Healthy fats, primarily unsaturated fatty acids, are lipid molecules essential for human physiological function, distinguishing themselves from saturated and trans fats by their chemical structure and biological effects. These include monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), such as omega-3 and omega-6, which contain one or more double bonds in their hydrocarbon chains, respectively. They are vital components of cell membranes and precursors for various signaling molecules within the body.
