Health Disparities

Meaning

Health disparities are defined as preventable differences in the burden of disease, injury, violence, or opportunities to achieve optimal health that are experienced by socially disadvantaged populations. These differences are closely linked to social, economic, and environmental disadvantage, extending beyond biological factors to encompass systemic inequities. In the context of hormonal health and wellness, disparities manifest as unequal access to diagnostic testing, specialized clinical care, and advanced therapeutic interventions like peptide therapy or hormone replacement. Addressing these systemic barriers is a moral and clinical imperative for achieving true population health equity.
