hCG/hMG Therapy

Meaning

hCG/hMG Therapy refers to the clinical use of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) and/or Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (hMG) to directly stimulate gonadal function, often utilized in fertility treatments or to prevent testicular atrophy during exogenous testosterone therapy. hCG acts as a powerful Luteinizing Hormone (LH) analog, directly stimulating the Leydig cells in the testes to produce endogenous testosterone and the ovaries to produce progesterone. hMG, which contains both Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and LH activity, is commonly employed to stimulate spermatogenesis in men or follicular development in women. This combined therapeutic approach is essential for maintaining or restoring the functionality of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis.
