Hazard Ratio

Meaning

The Hazard Ratio (HR) is a statistical measure used in survival analysis, a methodology common in clinical endocrinology and longevity research, to compare the rate at which events occur in two different groups. In hormonal health studies, an HR might quantify the relative risk of a metabolic event, such as the onset of type 2 diabetes or a cardiovascular incident, for individuals with a specific hormonal profile, like low testosterone or high cortisol, versus a control group. A hazard ratio greater than one indicates an increased risk in the exposed group.
