GrowthHormoneAxis

Meaning

The Growth Hormone Axis, clinically known as the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Somatotropic (HPS) axis, is a central neuroendocrine pathway responsible for regulating growth, body composition, cellular repair, and metabolism throughout life. This axis involves the hypothalamus releasing Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete Growth Hormone (GH), which in turn signals the liver to produce Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). The integrity and optimal function of this axis are paramount for maintaining lean body mass, bone density, and youthful energy levels, especially as natural GH production declines with age.
