Growth Hormone Stimulation Tests

Meaning

Growth Hormone Stimulation Tests are specific, standardized clinical diagnostic procedures employed to objectively assess the functional reserve capacity of the anterior pituitary gland to secrete Growth Hormone (GH). These tests require the administration of a potent pharmacological agent, known as a secretagogue, to maximally provoke a measurable GH release. The resulting peak GH concentration is a critical parameter used by clinicians for the definitive diagnosis of conditions such as Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) in both pediatric and adult populations.
