Growth Hormone Secretagogue

Meaning

A Growth Hormone Secretagogue is a substance, often a small molecule or peptide, that directly or indirectly causes the pituitary gland to release Growth Hormone (GH). These compounds act by mimicking the effects of GHRH or by blocking the inhibitory effects of somatostatin. They are utilized in clinical settings to selectively augment GH secretion, particularly when endogenous production is diminished.
